Hi, I'm just wondering if registration is required either to post or view topics here. I was thinking of sharing some of my videos here on my bandwidth (whose links don't expire) and would like to know whether anyone can download them (view the topics with the video inside) or just registered members (cause my bandwidth is limited). If not, I can just use the conventional YouSendIt. Thanks!

Registration is required to be able to post. For now guests can view the board until next season.

What do you mean with your links do not expire, do you have an own server?

You could offer in a thread to send anyone the links by PM so you don't suffer from having to much bandwidth...just a suggestion...

I have purchased space on the net where I host my videos and get charged by the month for a certain amount of bandwidth. That's why. The links do not expire unless I delete them (it's my paid space).

I have a vid sharing forum here I share and post all my vids (however access is limited to registered members only for bandwidth reasons). I was wondering whether your forum had the same thing because I was thinking of hosting some of my videos here. If not, that's perfectly fine as well.

I have some experience with webspace and even if this forum is only viewable for members you will still have a huge bandwidth with those big files. If you have like 100GB limit it may work but anything below may give you a big bill. How much transfer limit do you have? I would like to know to see if that is enogh to use for this forum in any case.

Maybe you could offer links of videos during the season which are most wanted to not upload them over and over...or so..

I have 60GB of transfer per month right now, but it's $40 a month so I will step down to 25GB/$20 a month in the future. Since my forum is not very busy it works for that. However this forum is much busier and growing very quickly so I think any bandwidth shared here will get eaten up VERY quickly.

For the service I have, 60GB/$40 a month is the highest consumer package. I think the next step up is 250GB/$100 a month and upwards (for businesses). And I don't know about you, but $100 a month is a LOT of money for me (alone) to burn on something like this. Maybe you could pull it off if you set up some kind of donation system for the forum (which I want to do, but don't know how to).

You know what? Since the bandwidth resets every month (it DOESN'T carry over) if I have any bandwidth left over I will post some vids here. That's pretty likely to happen. However, I will have to take them down after the month is over.

ETA: Oh yeah...I forgot to add that you get unlimited storage of files, so that's cool.

Yes, I understand that you are unable to pay that much and $40 is already a lot....it is very kind of you offering us your webspace fsvids/punk.gif
I think 250GB would work pretty good...anyway you could try out posting some vids to see how much bandwidth they take then we could calculate how much at the end might be needed smile.gif

Sounds good to me smile.gif

The billing period ends toward the end of April, so if I find I have a lot of extra space close to that time I don't want it to go to waste, so I will make sure to post vids here smile.gif

We can see how quickly it is used up (I will tell you how much bandwidth I have left when I post here, plus I have to account for downloads that will be made over on my forum as well.) 250GB is great, but wow, where will the $100/month to pay for that service come from?

The other good thing is that other people can send you their videos and you can host it on the webspace without having to re-upload it every time the link expires...

LLOS- 04-02-2005
Yes, first we find out how much bandwith some vids take and then we'll see. Until next season when we really need it, we have plenty of time smile.gif

About the donation thing we could ask members later if they would like to have links which do not expiere and if they would donate a little for that...lets say over PayPal...

Do you have statistics where you can see the exact number of downloads?

Yes, there are statistics you can look at- how many people downloaded each day, and how much bandwidth is used each day. BTW if you want to take a look at the site:

www.streamload.com

You can open a free account w/100MB bandwidth of private hosting (you can't host files like I do though) a month. For more you have to pay.

I'll send you a Private Message with more info about what we could do...
